Making Molasses, 2009

Hey everyone! I've worked all day long on getting this post ready! (I'm back-posting in case you're wondering!!) There were waaay too many pictures to post individually, so I've created a "Slideshow" of the process of Making Molasses! there are over 120 pictures, so hopefully your computers won't crash and burn! :o)

I mention it in the slideshow, but thought that I would elaborate here. We call what we make Molasses. Everyone around these parts that makes these "Molasses" calls them "Molasses", but what we ACTUALLY make is Sorghum Syrup. We grow Sorghum Cane which can only create the Sorghum Syrup. Molasses are actually made from Sugar Beets....which we DO NOT grow! Sometimes people make something called Sorghum Molasses which is made up of a combination of Sorghum Cane and Sugar Beets...again, we DON'T do this.

So.......................we've always refered to the brown sweet stuff as Molasses. To be politically correct, we will now label them as "Mountain Molasses" and also mention that they are 100% Sorghum Syrup!

Either way, they are GOOOOOOOD!!!!! :o) Yummy and really healthy too! We enjoy making them and we hope that you all enjoy the slideshow! I tried to show everything from start to finish and list "notes" where applicable!

Enjoy watching!!!
