Our Day at Grandfather!!!

Today, after visiting again at Paulette and Michelle's church, Mark surprised the boys and me by taking us by the grocery store to pick up boxed lunches and drinks, and then drove us on up to Grandfather!!! Yippee!!! (Mark usually doesn't do spontaneous things like this ~ I personally LOVE it when he does do it!!) The weather was GREAT and the views were even better! We got to see the progress on the new building on top of the Mtn. It's coming along pretty well....thought that they'd have it done by now, though!! :o) We also got to see the animals and feed the bears!!! All in all it was a good day!!!

The 2009 Antique Tractor Show in Gray, TN!!!

We've been going the last few years to the Tractor show in Gray. This year, we took Creston's Pedal Tractor to the show so he could "Race" it! He's usually pretty shy about things like that, so we weren't sure how he would react to it, but he seemed excited! We entered him into the contest, put him and his "Farmall" tractor on the stage, and stood back to see what happened! The judge said "GO!" and off they went.....all but Creston........finally he started and somehow, as he started and got faster, the rest got slower............he finished 3rd!!!! Yippee!!! He was soooo proud! We were too!!! We'll practice with him for next year!!! He'll be a pro by then!!!

We got the Roof on our Garage....FINALLY!!!

Mark and his Dad started our Garage last fall......we had planned on getting it finished before winter set in, but due to cold weather coming a little early, and my unfortunate firing from my position in Boone, we had to put the finishing of the Garage on hold! We were finally able to put the Metal Roof on the building!!! Yay!!! I think it looks really good so far! They've still got to
finish up quite a bit, but we'll finish as we get the $! :o) I'll keep updating the progress as it comes along!!! (I hope that we can get it finished by this time NEXT year, but you never know! We'll sure try, though!!!)

Updates and Old Postings!

Update! I did not hurt myself or any member of my family coming out of the house yesterday(Sunday!)!!!! YAY!!!!!! That does not mean that I won't hurt myself or anyone else any other day this week, but at least I feel a lot better about the past 2-Sundays situation!

I have been working today off and on to update the look of our blog, and to post old posts from as far back as a few weeks ago! So.............those of you who like to peruse my blog for all the funny and crazy things that we 'Parlier People' like to do, please look back several pages!!! :o)

On a different note...My family has been going through a bit of a family 'situation' this past week...(my extended family). Someone we love very dearly moved away unexpectedly and we are all very saddened by this news. I don't think any of us know exactly how to deal with this, but hopefully things will be o.k. in the end. Please remember to keep my family in your thoughts & prayers.

Killin' Turkeys and Plantin' Taters

This morning, Mark's friend and his friend came over to hunt a few of the Turkeys on Mack's property....Now all you hunters,....don't come a'runnin over here to kill some too! ;o) We've already got about 4 people that have asked permission to hunt over here, and we really don't think it a good idea for everyone to be a shootin' left and right and possibly hitting each other or some of us!!! :o) Sorry!!!
This was a pretty big one (I thought), UGLY, though!

Creston, Nana, & Mackie posing waaaay far away from the dead bird (in the shadows)

Mark and Jimmy are showing Creston how the Tom Turkey can spread out his tail feathers...

'Tater plantin' time...
Not sure if we do things a bit different than everyone else or not! This is how we plant 'taters! Mark hops on his 4-wheeler and they attach the old plow with a chain and Mack will walk it behind the 4-wheeler to make sure it's dug into the ground deep enough to make the furrows...we'll drop fertilizer, work that into the ground, then drop the 'taters and then Mack will cover them with a hoe, and then Mark and Mack will go back over them again with the 4-wheeler and the plow to put even more dirt on them. Pretty neat!!
In the above picture, Creston and Mackie are "helping" Paw-Paw walk the plow. Mackie has his elbows out and is actually marching saying "one, two, three, four!"

Flying Kites and Mowing Paw-Paw's Yard!!!

Today was a pretty day! YAY!!! Creston got a kite in his Easter Basket, so Daddy got it out and flew it for him! Creston didn't seem too interested in it after the initial "yippee! a KITE" wore off.
Paw-Paw decided to mow his yard for the first time today too! Creston LOVES to ride with Paw-Paw, and this year, Mackie LOVES it too!!!

Mark finished his latest wood-working project and in the picture is polishing it up before we delivered it!

I fell off the porch this time.....

Well.....yesterday morning (Easter morning), as I was taking Mackie out the door to put in the car so we could attend our FIRST EVER Sunrise Easter Service, I hit frost on the porch just before the 2 steps down and Whoosh! Down we went!

This is my arm today......I have another bruise on my thigh/hip that is about 3 times this size and even blacker/blue-r than my arm.

When I fell, I must have fallen down the steps, but in a backward motion.....I had Mackie on my left hip and hit on my left side, but wound up on my right side and Mackie wound up falling back onto our rock-flower-bed border....it really scared me when he hit the rocks because the way he fell looked as though he hit a pointy rock square on his back. He started crying and somehow, I got him up on my lap...my arm felt like it had been ripped off, and the way Mack was sitting, I couldn't reach around him to feel if it was still there or not...

Creston was standing in the doorway, and I hollered for him to go get me the phone...I wasn't sure yet if I had broken my arm or leg...I leaned forward and looked down to Mack and Dorothy's and saw that they were already in their car and sitting in their driveway waiting on us to come down and meet them...they wouldn't have heard the phone...

So....about that time, the phone started ringing, and I knew I'd have to try to get up. I did and found that Thank God!, nothing seemed to be broken...I got the phone, but the caller had hung up already....I flipped the porch lights to get Mack and Dorothy to come up to the house. I then went to take off Mackie's coat and the back of his head was bright red with blood! I about died again! Mack and Dorothy got there about that time and they came in and looked Mack over for me. He only had 1 small cut on the back of his head...AMAZING how much blood can come from a head cut! Other than that, he was o.k. I called Mark to tell him what was happening, and during the call I started to feel woozy myself. Mark kept asking if I had hit my head and I hadn't, so he couldn't understand why I felt like passing out....I handed the phone to Big Mack and laid down on the couch where I pretty much blacked out without losing all consciousness(?)...the funny part was that Creston had come over to my side...I couldn't move to look at him, so he started asking Dorothy "Nana, is Mama dead? Why is Mama dead?" Well, that's not too funny, but the way he said it was like he was saying 'I can come live with you now!'---he LOVES his Nana!

I finally came out of it and got to feeling better. To the best of my knowledge, nothing is broken or swollen more than for a bruise. We're lucky. Mackie could have been hurt so much worse than he was...Thank God that we're o.k.!!!!! I may need to keep the family indoors for the next few Sundays.......not looking so good for us on the most sacred day of the week.

Easter Sunday!!!

Creston is finally getting old enough to understand the religous side of easter...when asked what Easter means, he says that 'Jesus was nailed on a Cross', then when asked what happened next, he'll say 'HE'S ALIVE!!'. We took him last year to see an Easter Play that was pretty graphic and showed Jesus being nailed to the cross, and then Jesus coming back to life. He's a pretty smart little booger! Mackie, however, is still all jelly-beans and Easter Eggs! Here are a few pictures of our Easter festivities! I'm putting the rest in a slide-show!!! Enjoy!!

Daddy, Mackie, and Creston dying eggs!! Sooooo silly!

Easter Baskets from the Easter Bunny (a.k.a. mom & dad)
Easter Baskets from Nana and Paw-Paw!
Mark had to work, so we all went and met him and his (Fire) Partner (;o)) Jimmy for lunch at Golden Corral, then went to the Fire Department and played with Daddy and Jimmy and the Fire Trucks!!! FUN, fun FUN!!!!
