A Baby Changes Everything...

This is the title to one of Faith Hill's new Christmas songs on her new Album. Please...., no one get concerned that I'm trying to tell you all something! If that were the case, the title of this post would have read....."A Baby Changes Everything....and Martha is now going to be on medication for the next 9 months!"

I want each of you to go to this link for You Tube and watch the video to the song! I love "Old Standards", but I also love the new ones that really make you think. This one gave me chills as I listened to it while trying to get Creston to sleep.

Listen to the words........

This Christmas Season that is coming up is all about that Baby. He changed everything for me. He changed the world for all of us.

Our day was GREAT!

We had the best Thanksgiving day that I think we've had so far as a family!
My mom and step-father joined us at Mack & Dorothy's for Thanksgiving Day lunch, and then we all went outside and watched the boys play in the yard. The weather was PERFECT for being outside...couldn't have asked for any better! All of the food was GREAT and we stuffed ourselves till we couldn't eat anymore! Then, we took the fellers home and made them take a nap. We rested a bit too, and then got the boys ready for their movie! We met some friends of ours at the Theater and Creston got to sit with 2 of his little friends while we all watched "Bolt"!!! I tell ya, that was really a cute movie! I would reccommend it to any of you with little people in your homes! Mackie even watched a bit of it! Mark and I sat a few seats apart, so Mack was able to "roam" around with his snack-bag. He got a bit fussy towards the end, but nothing major!

On the way home, we found Ingal's Grocery store to be opened, so we stopped and got a few things and let the boys ride in one of those "race car" buggies. Creston had a ball! We tried to find Christmas lights on the houses as we came home, but there really weren't as many as I had figured there would be! Guess all those people weren't decking the halls after all!!!

It was a truly good day! I feel extreemly blessed! I hope that you all had equally great days too!

Thanksgiving...

When I was little, my family, along with the rest of my mom's siblings and their families, would go to my Grandparents house and have our Thanksgiving meal as one big family! Mom had 4 sisters and 1 brother, so as you can imagine, there were plenty of people around when you included all the husbands, wives, and kids. I'm not sure exactly how we all would fit into Grandma and Grandpa's house, but somehow we did! We even had a "kids" table!! I sat there up until I was in my late teens! I didn't mind....it was familiar to me.
Looking back now, I have only happy memories of those Thanksgiving get-togethers. I was with my family, everyone seemed to be getting along, and there was lots of good food and PIE!!!
Now, as I've gotten older and our family has changed and added several members and lost several more, the holiday isn't quite the same as it used to be. My mom's side of the family still gathers together at my Uncles home. Everyone that can come meets there and shares in the family meal. The last few years, we haven't been able to go as often as I would like, but that's what happens when you get married and have more extended family to visit with. Last year, we ate our Thanksgiving meal at Sagebrush Steak House in Boone! (Mark had to work!)
Everything changes as you get older. Somehow that "awe" that you have as a child grows a little dimmer with each year that passes. I guess it's because of all the responsibility you gain as you age and begin to have children of your own. All of a sudden, you don't anticipate the holidays because you are excited about being together with your family...you stress about them because you have to do the cooking, or you need to try to make an appearance at every relation's house...or you stress because you know that certain family members don't get along and you're not sure how to get everyone together without having a world war begin. The reasons for the stress are too many to count...you all know what I mean!
Holidays are meant to be enjoyed! So let's enjoy this one this year!
My family is going to attempt to start a new tradition this year.....after we eat, and the boys get their nap, we are planning on heading over to see a "kids" movie! We're doing the "kids" movie for obvious reasons! My friend Blair and her family used to do that sometimes on Thanksgiving Day many moons ago when we were in High School together. I always thought that would be a nice way to spend the evening!
After that, we may try to catch some Christmas Lights on the way home (You know how some people get all ahead of themselves and deck the halls before the turkey bones have even been thrown out....there WILL be lights to see somewhere!).
I just want to do something special as a family so that our boys will have that same feeling of family and togetherness and love that I had as a kid!
This Thanksgiving, I am most thankful for the following:
*I am so thankful to have my husband who takes care of us and makes sure that we have the things that we need on a daily basis. He is our rock.
*I am so thankful for my children, and for the fact that they still smile from ear to ear and squeal when I get home from work....that is one of the sweetest sights & sounds to see & hear after a long, hard day.
*I am thankful for my job...however stressful it may be, it came at a good time for our family. It has allowed me to get out of the house more and allowed Mark to be with the children more. It has allowed us the ability to get a newer and safer vehicle and has also allowed us to get some debt paid off quicker than if I had still been at home. It will be a year on 12/12/08 since I started my job. This was an answer to prayer. God truly does provide when we need it.
*I am thankful for my health...in this day and age, sickness comes in all forms. I have come to know several people over the last year who have been faced with sickness, but who have shown great strength in their fight for health again. I wish that we lived in a world where sickness was rare, but until that time, I am glad that I have been able to see that certain things don't have to beat you down....that we can overcome bad times and often find the silver lining in the end.
*I am thankful for the home over my head, the clothes on my body, and the food in my belly. I have so much more than a lot of people...there are so many who won't be getting together with family in a nice, warm home with a great big turkey to eat. It's so easy to forget that the things that we have aren't necessarily the "norm" for everyone else. So many people struggle to make ends meet on a daily basis. I pray that all of those people and families will be able to find an easier life in the days and months ahead.
*I am thankful for my friends...we have fewer this year than we've ever had...if I let myself think about that, I get pretty sad, but I just have to remember that some friends, unfortunately, come and go like everything else in this life, but true friendship lasts through all of the ups and downs that come your way. For all of you out there who are our friends (and you know who you are), we thank God for you and for your friendship. You are constantly in our thoughts and prayers and we hope to remain in yours also.
*I am thankful for life, and for the chance to just live it! When we are born, we are like a clean slate! Anything at all is possible. All we have to do is just get out there and make it happen! The country that we live in allows us the freedom to pursue happiness....no matter what it is that makes us happy (within legal limits, that is!!) We have so many options to consider at every stage in this life! No matter if you are 10 or 100, we have the ability to make our dreams come true! That is truly something to be Thankful for!
No matter how you spend your day, take the time to really think of all the blessings that you have in this life. Take the time to let those that you love KNOW that you love them! Start a new family tradition! Give someone in your family a hug instead of punching them in the nose!!! Tell the person who made the tough and dry turkey that it was GREAT (and mean it!) because you'll know that it was made for you with love!
Have a really GREAT day! Have a Thankful day!
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Our FOURTH snow!!!!!

Well, this one has been the "big one" so far this winter-y weather season! Tonight, after it stopped snowing, we had probably around 6-8 inches of the white stuff. I left work at 5, picked up some take-out chinese, and got home around 6:15ish. Upon attempting to get up our steep and long driveway, I found out that mom's green car wasn't quite the "snow goer" that I thought it was. (Mark had taken the Ford today to take Creston to his dentist appointment to get his "rings" adjusted.) I tried 3 times to get it up past the first little-bitty curve in the driveway, but I kept sliding sideways into our bank. Oh me! I had to back down and leave the car at Mack's. HE brought me home. Then, Mark decided that HE would get the car home..............Mack brough Mark home too.......:o) He came in making lots of gestures and noise about hating snow...........WE'RE IN FOR A LONG WINTER!!!!

On the Digital Camera issue.....I boxed it up today and Mark and Creston took it to the post office and sent it to New York for me to HOPEFULLY get it fixed!!!!! In the meantime, I found that my camcorder does take still pictures, but there is no flash, so anything other than daylight pictures, or in a well-lit room will be pointless to take!

Keep you posted!

A great imagination is a wonderful thing....sometimes...

Our oldest son, Creston, is by far, one of the most interesting people I know! He comes up with some of the most creative and STRANGEST stories that I've ever heard of!

Earlier today, he was playing under our dining room table. He likes to sit under there and pretend that he is running an Ice Cream stand. He will sell ice cream and hamburgers to me and Mackie. He always pays US, though. Hmmmmm......we'll have to work on that one......

Anyway,...he asked me if I wanted some ice cream. I said that I would like 2 scoops of Chocolate in a cone......he said "we don't have any more cones".....I said that a bowl would be fine...he said "we don't have any bowls"....I asked what he did have.......he said "a CUP!". A cup it was. He handed it to me and Mackie walked up right about then. I asked Mack if he would like some Ice Cream....his eyes lit up and he grunted "eeehhh" (which means YES!). Creston handed him his cup of ice cream. Mackie just stared at him like he had LOST his mind!

THEN.......the interesting thing happened.....I said "Mmmmm this is really good Chocolate Ice Cream!" Creston said "No, no NO!!.....it's not Chocolate!" I said "What flavor is it, then?" He then replied "Sowad(salad) and Poop Favor"........I sat there and said "Ummmmm......Poop flavor?" "Yup", he said, "That woman LIKES the Poop Favor!"

No CLUE as to who the "Woman" is or where he got that notion from.................oh me!

Then................, tonight, he came into the computer room where I was working on "work" stuff, and exclaimed that his "foots hurted". He was walking on his heels. "My foots got a broke brain in them!" I said "you have a broken bone???"......"no(with a roll of his eyes - imagine.....a 3-year-old rolling his eyes....)........a BROKE BRAIN!!!". He then informed me that it was hurting so badly that we would need to saw them off and replace them with NEW feet.........we would need to tape the new ones on.

Need I say any more? Life in our home is interesting.............VERY interesting!

Our THIRD snow of the season...

Well.....today it snowed and snowed and snowed! I call this our Third snow because a couple of Sundays ago, we had flurries for most of the early part of the day....making THAT our SECOND snow!!!

I went to work a little late, but got there! Our roads were covered, but I didn't slide any. I think it was because I was following Mark down the Mountain and we were only going like 5mph! :o)

The snow stopped by the time I left work at 5:15ish. The roads had dried off too, so going home wasn't bad at all!

Well......that's enough boring talk of snow........no pictures to post because I still don't have my digital camera fixed yet. I may have to purchase a "stand-by" camera to cover Thanksgiving and Christmas!!! Blog at you all soon!

Thank you for your prayers...

My Uncle's Funeral was this afternoon. I just wanted to let everyone know that my Aunt and Madison are both doing well under the circumstances. Unfortunately, death is something that never makes any sense, but with time and the love of family and friends, the hurt will ease a bit.

Please continue to keep them in your prayers.

Mackie's One-Year-Old Picture.....FINALLY!!!

We finally had Mack's 1-year picture made! The picture lady looked at us as though we were a bit funny in the head when we told her that he was actually nearly 16 months old. They turned out really sweet, though!
Here's one of the boys together!

Time for Thanksgiving!

After the anticipated "picking on" from a few co-workers after the election, I am officially going to turn my thoughts to other things!!!

THANKSGIVING!!!!

I just Love Thanksgiving! Sometimes, I think that I enjoy it more than Christmas because there's no aggravation involved other than usually cooking something, and going somewhere to eat it and to be with your family! With Christmas, there's so much expected of everyone to be everywhere and to have something to give to everyone. The reason for the season very often goes by the wayside as we rip open the presents and ask for the next one. With Thanksgiving, you know that it's just a day to be with your closest friends and family. You get to be with the ones you love the most. AND EAT TURKEY AND STUFFING!!!!! YUMMY!!!!!

So......for the rest of the month, I'll try to find interesting things about Thanksgiving and post them here. May be a bit hit and miss, but I'll try!

Megan and Tim are getting married tomorrow evening! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
We all love you two!
Good luck in your future together and always remember...if you get into a little-itty-bitty fight, and you ask yourself "Why did I marry him/her?", just think back to your wedding day and remember the way that you felt as you said "I Do!". That might just help you to get past a little of the "I'm gonna kill him/her"!!!!

Obama Wins!!!

Barack Obama will be our next President!
This is the first part of his acceptance speech...
November 5, 2008

Posted: 12:20 AM ET
As released by the Obama campaign:

Remarks of President-Elect Barack Obama—as prepared for deliveryElection NightTuesday, November 4th, 2008Chicago, Illinois

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

It’s the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference.

It’s the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled – Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America.

It’s the answer that led those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.

It’s been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.

McCain Concedes....

At around 11:30pm tonight, Senator John McCain conceded the race to Senator Barack Obama.

It appears that the Democratic Party did very well so far in this election...

Hopefully, our country will be able to pull out of the current crisis that we're in and rise above the last many months that we've been going in a downward spiral. Americans want a change, and either way things went tonight, we were going to get one. We need to pray for the upcoming changes that will take place in our political world coming in January...we need to pray for God's guidance for our newly elected leaders and for the decisions that they will be faced with. We need more than ever to unite as Americans and not just as Republicans & Democrats. We need each other to make this country strong again...

Who will win today?

At the moment, it's 10:15 am.....there's no decision yet, and most likely won't be until LATE tonight (or later if it's a close race like last time).

Already, there's problems arising from long lines, bad weather on both coasts, and electronic malfunctions causing concern for the voters who are hoping that their votes will be counted.

I wondered something yesterday......with most of the states offering early voting, I wonder why more people don't take that option and in doing so, make sure that their vote will be counted? Early voting offers people the opportunity to make sure that all of their information is correct, the lines aren't long, and they can avoid the "rush" on Election day. Maybe people like the adreneline of Election Day. The anticipation of being the part of something big along with the rest of the country. The feelings of excitement that your candidate will win, or the feelings of dread that he won't. Either way, early voting will most likely become more popular as the years go by. Probably in our lifetimes, everything will go electronic and we'll be able to vote from our homes on our computers! Times are changing!

Anyway...I hope that we'll get the outcome at a decent hour tonight. The last 2 elections have been a bit crazy with all of the counting and re-counting and re-re-counting. Americans want to know who is going to lead us ASAP. I realize, however, that we do want to make sure that the vote is correct, so count away vote-counting-people! We will wait until you are done!

Get out and VOTE Tomorrow!!!!

This is the eve of the election!
Tommorow is going to be a historic day! Either way, we will either have our first African American President, or our first Female Vice-President!
This is an exciting time in our lives. Many things will be changing as we know it, but hopefully for the better. Let's all pray that America makes the right choice for our Leaders tomorrow!
