Mommy & Creston!

We were all dolled up for church, so I figured that I'd get a picture with my 2 boys! Mackie wasn't having any part of it, and to be honest, neither was Creston! Oh well!!!

Helping Mommy with the Chores!

We've been finding things for the boys to help us do around the house here lately! I have found that they are REALLY good at folding laundry! At least the towels! Mackie seems to be more into it than Creston is, but that's o.k. I'll teach them all there is to know before they go off on their own! Hopefully they'll do it with a smile!!! AND........be a help to their wives later on!!!! :o) (Future Daughter-in-laws..............you're WELCOME!!)

My newest "Project"

Hey there, everyone!!! I've been working on something for the last week and a half and I am finally ready to reveal it to all of you!!!

I have been making little "Pillowcase Dresses" to sell on Etsy and Ebay!!! These dresses range in size from Girls 12-months to 5T.

Now.......WHY DRESSES, Martha? You have BOYS, Martha! (This is what Mark said when I told him what I was going to do!!) Because............I have tons of fabric sitting in my basement just waiting for me to do something with it ~ most of it girly. Sooooooooo...the other day, I ran across the most adorable Pillowcase Dress on Etsy and thought about it and decided that I could make those and sell them too!!!

So...........I pulled out all of my fabric, and washed it up and started looking to see what I would be able to make with all the different fabric sizes and colors that I had!

Some of my pieces of fabric were smaller than others, so I just made up what I could out of what I had......put a size to them, and have posted them all for sale!

I'm pretty excited about this because I really love to be creative and crafty and this way, I'm doing that while hopefully making a few extra dollars!

I've also learned a few new sewing styles to make the dresses more "finished" looking! It's been a little interesting, but for the most part really FUN!!! I've even had Mackie and Creston model some of them for me to make sure they were fitting correctly and long enough! I PROMISED Mark, though, that I would NOT post any of those pictures on here to embarrass them with, so........you'll just have to imagine. Creston about died when I asked him to put one on to help mommy.....He said "I AM NOT A GIRL!!!"

So.............if you'll click on the ETSY Button at the top right hand side of my blog, it will take you to my Etsy Store ~ Patchwork Blessings! If this goes well, I'll add more things to the store as I get them made and I'm hoping to figure out a way to make Deck Shorts for the little boys for this Spring and Summer! I'll be working on that next! So.................stay tuned to see what I'm up to as far as this endeavor goes and pray that this will go well for me!!! Thanks everyone!!!

Catching up...

I've not posted in a few days.......not felt much like it. We had to have our Doggie, Otis put to sleep last week after noticing that she was breathing really hard. Mark and Creston loaded her up into the truck and took her to see the vet. and he found that one of her lungs had collapsed and that the other one was filled with fluid. Otis was nearly 14 years old, so basically, they could have done several things to try to help, but the vet. didn't think that she could have stood it. The weather was horrible the next few days and Mark had to work the very next day. When he heard how bad she was, the Vet. mentioned putting her to sleep. Mark couldn't leave work, and the Vet. was closed the next day, so he didn't want her to suffer for 2 more days until her could get to see her and be there when they put her down. They went ahead last Monday and put her to sleep. I felt so badly about it since none of us were there with her.....I had no idea that would happen when they took her to the vet.

So.................this past Saturday, Mark went to pick up her body and brought her home so that we could bury her on our property. It was snowing and we had to remove about 7-9 inches of snow to even get to the ground to dig the hole, but the ground wasn't frozen. That was a blessing. We burried her and will put a marker on her grave when all this snow melts off.

Mark seems to be o.k., but she was his baby.....she loved him and he loved her. There won't ever be another dog like Otis. She was a good, GOOD girl! She loved us and the boys and was always so sweet and friendly!

It's strange with her not being here now. I never used to think twice about "strange" noises before, because I knew that if anything "weird" was going on, that Otis would bark or chase stuff away! Now........there's no Otis to listen for me when Mark is gone.

We'll have to get another doggie sometime soon, but I almost hate to do it. I don't want to replace Otis. I don't deal well with moving on, I suppose.

I know that she's better off and I'm glad that she didn't die here while she was in pain or not able to catch her breath. That would have been more awful...

So.................I have many things to post, but I'll just have to fill in the blanks later on. Hopefully all of you are doing well and having a GREAT SNOWY WINTER!!! I know that we definately are having the Snowy part!!! :o)

Love to you all!!!

Valentine's Day 2010

We had a nice Valentine's Day. It snowed........of course.......but other than that, it was nice!!

Mark and I went to eat a late lunch yesterday at Applebee's while Mack & Dorothy watched the boys for us. We were hoping to go see a movie too, but the boys were waaaay too excitable and were fighting each other a lot, so we opted to just run by Wal-mart afterwards and then went on home to save them from the children. By the time we got home, the roads were getting covered by the white stuff again. Good thing we went out earlier instead of later!! :o) HAPPY
VALENTINE'S DAY to all of my little men!!!

Snow.....snow..........snnnnooowwwww......

I'm just going to post pictures of our latest SNOW. It's becoming yet another yucky 4-letter word around here! Especially since the boys have kept a runny nose this winter and haven't been able to get out in it as much as they'd like to!

Mackie gets to play in the Water Colors!!!

My Little Smackie-Moo (that's one of the things that I like to call him) got to play in the water colors today!!! He was sooooooooo excited about it! I gave him paper and water and let him go!! I had to rinse out the paint afterwards because he had made all of the colors "brown", but they cleaned up well!!! He was soooo proud of his pictures!!
